In his first season of pro hockey in North America, Niklas Svedberg has backstopped the Providence Bruins to the best record in the AHL entering the final week and a half of the regular season. He has earned the third-most victories ever by an AHL rookie goaltender (34-8-0) and he ranks sixth in the league in goals-against average (2.18) and fifth in save percentage (.924) in 45 appearances.

Svedberg, 23, signed with the Boston Bruins last May after leading Brynas IF to the Elitserien championship in his native Sweden.

Leading all AHL rookies with 37 assists and 51 points, Ryan Spooner is also at the top of the scoring page for the league-leading Providence Bruins. A second-round draft choice by Boston in 2010, Spooner has registered 13 multiple-point games this season, including four in a row between Mar. 16 and Apr. 5. The 21-year-old native of Kanata, Ont., has also appeared in four NHL games with Boston, making his NHL debut on Feb. 6.

Each All-Rookie Team member will receive a custom-designed crystal award in recognition of his selection to the 2012-13 AHL All-Rookie Team.
